India's leading four-wheeler manufacturer and seller of Utility Vehicles. Over the years they have produced several vehicles that have proven their mettle in Indian conditions. Their most popular vehicle was the jeep, which has now been replaced by the Thar.

Mahindra today accomplished production of its 50,00,000th vehicle. They organised an event at Air India building. The Indian manufacturer formed a human chain of 3,000 workers from Nariman Point to Girgaon Chowpatty in Mumbai.

Present at the event was Pravin Shah, Chief Executive Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra. He drove around in one of their manufactured Jeeps from their Kandivali plant and personally waved at each of the 3,000 workers who had formed a human chain.

Mahindra last year launched their new 2014 Scorpio, which has been highly appreciated by many across India. They also plan to introduce more stylish and modern looking vehicles in the coming year.

The manufacturer is working on a compact SUV model that will rival Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano. We hope they come up with a petrol engine as their diesel engines are well renowned. The petrol engine is Mahindra's achilles heel.

Mahindra is not only focussing on India, they have a global strategy and are acquiring companies that would benefit them. Their goal is to be the biggest global manufacturer that has set out from India. They have already acquired Ssangyong and Peugeot's two-wheeler department.
