Lamborghini Becomes First Company To Be Certified CO2 Neutral
Lamborghini, the Italian sports car manufacturer has officially been certified CO2 neutral by DNV GL (Det Norske Veritasa Germanischer), an environmental risk management classification, verification and service company.
Lamborghini is the first company in the world to be awarded so.
The company was able to achieve this because of a new trigeneration and district heating system which were installed at Sant'Agata Bolognese factory.
Stephan Winkelmann, Automobili Lamborghini President and CEO said in a statement, "Sustainability is one of our company objectives and we subscribe to a strong undertaking of environmental responsibility towards our stakeholders and the area where the company operates."
"The new plant and the certification we have earned today are part of our sustainable growth program. Our goal is to keep the plant Co2 neutral, even after the expansion that will take place in the upcoming years with the introduction of the third Lamborghini Model."
The new trigeneration plant produces electricity, heating, and cooling using natural gas.
