Jeep To Inaugurate 15 Dealerships In India By 2015 End
Fiat Chrysler Automobile has several brands under its wings and had plans to launch products and upcoming markets. They had earlier announced that they would be launching Jeep and Chrysler vehicles soon in India.
Due to legal issues and merger of Fiat Group and its stockholders the launch of Jeep in India was delayed. They were supposed to launch the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler by 2013, which was eventually pushed back to 2014.
Now the American manufacturer promises to launch its product within 2015. Prior to that they are planning to setup dealerships across India. These will be exclusive showrooms for Jeep only and their goal is to have 15 dealers by the end of this calendar year.
Jeep plan to locally assemble their products in India, however, primarily they would be offering Completely Built Units. They plan to offer the first batch of Grand Cherokee and Wrangler as direct imports and will later on offer local assembled vehicles.
Once Jeep launches the Grand Cherokee in India, it will compete head on with Audi Q7, BMW X5 and Range Rover Sport. The Wrangler on the other hand is a more luxurious off-road machine and does not compete with any product in the nation. They will be following a top to down approach with their products.
Both these products will be priced at a premium and will attract a niche segment in India. Fiat Chrysler Group has not given a definite timeframe for Jeep and their product launch. They have also not revealed the engine, features and pricing of either vehicles.
