Honda's First African Plant Begins Production
Honda has started production in its plant in Nigeria, Africa. This is Honda's first plant in Africa and is located within the Honda motorcycle plant, which already exists.
Honda installed automobile production facilities and equipment within the Honda motorcycle production plant and has started production of the Accord sedan. This new plant has a production capacity of 1000 units per year.
Back in 2013, Honda established a local automobile business subsidiary and began the import and sales of Honda automobiles. Honda has seen Africa as one of its potential markets and is expected to expand here in the future.
Yoshi Yamane, the Senior Managing Officer and Director of Honda said, "Establishment of the first Honda automobile production plant in Africa is an epoch- making challenge for us. This production operation incorporates know how Honda has amassed through its long history of motorcycle business in this market, and we could re-discover the strengths of Honda at the spot of manufacturing operations."
