HMFCL Planning Of Getting Mitsubishi Attrage & Delica To India
Japanese automobile manufacturer Mitsubishi is planning of making a comeback with all new products for India. They are currently partners with Hindustan Motor Finance Corp. and offer a single product in India. The Pajero Sport premium SUV is the only model by Mitsubishi on offer in the country.
Mitsubishi had plans of launching five vehicles in India between 2014 to 2016. Among these was their small car called the Mirage hatchback. They have decided not to launch this vehicle as there is intense competition in this segment.
HMFCL and Mitsubishi is looking at launching the Attrage, Delica, Outlander and Montero in the following years. The petrol version of new Outlander and Montero SUV will be launched this year, it will be followed by diesel powered engine in the following year. They will offer these SUVs with both manual as well as automatic transmission.
The Attrage sedan by Mitsubishi is expected to be offered in India during 2016-2017. It is expected to feature only a diesel engine and no petrol or automatic transmission is expected. They are looking at possibilities to locally assemble the sedan, thus, achieving more competitive pricing.
Mitsubishi's Delica is an MPV, which will face off against the Innova from Toyota. It will be launched three to four years from today, as they will be exploring options to locally assemble this MPV to achieve competition prices. It is current on offer in Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines.
