Govt To Fix High Security Number Plates On All Vehicles

In a bid to curb cases of counterfeiting, duplication and theft, the Economic Times is reporting that the government Uttar Pradesh has decided to fix high security registration plates on all vehicles registered in the state.

The high security registration plates are tamper-proof, non-replaceable and ensure more safety for vehicles. The transport department has issued a tender inviting suitable bidders to create infrastructure for supplying and affixing of the high security plates all around UP. The plates will be affixed to all vehicles registered in the state, whether they be new or not.

The Supreme Court has directed states have to implement the high security registration plates project within two years.
