Ford India To Start Exporting To Europe From Sanand Plant

Ford India will soon start exporting cars made in India to Europe, which are made in the company's factory in Sanand. The export will begin early next year. Currently, Ford vehicles made in Sanand are exported to Mexico, Middle East, and South Africa.

Ford currently manufactures the second generation Ford Figo and the Aspire compact sedan in its Sanand plant. The facility has a capacity to produce 2,40,000 units, which include units that are exported and sold domestically.

The American automaker has invested USD 1 billion in its facility in Sanand and exports to around 40 countries. The carmaker is looking to triple its export numbers in five years.

Tha Sanand Ford plant has the capacity to manufacture 2,40,000 vehicles and 2,70,000 engines per year, and is spread across 460 acres of land. During April - October 2015, Ford has exported 66,233 cars, which is a 50 percent growth year-on-year.
