Ford Holds Talks With Google To Build Next-Generation Autonomous Cars
Ford is reportedly in talks with Google to build the software giant's next generation of self-driving cars under contract.
According to Automotive News, it is not certain whether Ford will be making a new platform of cars for Google or if they are going to retrofit one of their own cars with the sensors and computers the car needs to drive on its own.
Automotive News that an insider with knowledege of the deal had reported that the negotiations had been going on for a long time. Google confirmed to Automotive news that they were in talks with automakers, but a spokesperson for the Mountain View based software giant stated that the company would not 'comment on speculation'.
If a deal is finalized, the announcement could happen as early as the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, in January.
