F1 News: Force India & Vijay Mallya To Just Keep Walking . . .
Force India is on the lookout for partners for the 2016 Formula One season and is currently in talks with Aston Martin as well as Johnnie Walker. This news has been confirmed by Vijay Mallya ahead of the Mexican GP this Sunday.
Currently, the Formula One team is known as Sahara Force India F1 Team. The owners of this team are Vijay Mallya, the owner of United Beverages, and Subrata Roy of Sahara Group. Unfortunately, the latter is in jail for over a year now.
Force India, is the only Indian team in Formula One and for the next season will continue using the Mercedes-powered units in their vehicles. Force India, however, will get an all-new livery for next year if the deal is sanctioned with Aston Martin and Johnnie Walker. And if the deal goes through, Force India will continue to be an Indian registered Formula One team.
The last time Aston Martin was seen on the Formula One grid was during the 1960 Championship. A decision to partner with Force India will be made before the start of next season, and it will be great for Force India to have two premium luxury brands associated with them.
Force India is currently fifth in the 2015 Formula One Championship with 102 points. Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez are the drivers for this year, and will be retained for the next season as well. Force India's first season in Formula One was in 2008.
The upcoming race is the Mexican GP, which will be held at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit. In India, the qualifying will be telecasted on Sunday, 00:30 IST, and the main race on Monday, Nov. 2 at 00:30 IST.
