Daimler India Commercial Vehicles debuted their BharatBenz brand for the very first time at EXCON in Bangalore. On display were eleven trucks from their construction and mining range. The 3143 mining truck drew most attention at Bharat Benz stalls.
BharatBenz 3143 mining truck will bridge the gap between premium trucks and underpowered trucks. Powering the truck will be Mercedes-Benz OM 457 engine, with a 12-litre, six-cylinder, producing 430bhp. The truck is available in two options 19.5Cu.M rock body and 32Cu.M coal carrier.
The major differentiator between BharatBenz and other brands is the higher payload, better fuel efficiency, and lower maintenance costs. They have also managed to localise parts extensively, which translates to higher availability of spare parts across the country.
India will play an important in global operations of Daimler. Currently, Indian made Daimler trucks are exported to over 21 countries across the globe under FUSO branding. So far, Daimler has its manufacturing facility in Oragadam and has exported over one million trucks till date.
