European Union To Have Cars Fitted With Emergency Call Systems
The European Union is taking a step forward in terms of safety by making it mandatory for all cars to have emergency call systems fitted by 2018. This system will automatically call emergency services, incase of an accident.
The European Union lawmakers took the decision to have all new cars and light duty vehicles fitted with this system.
Sensors in the car will automatically call emergency services, alerting them if there is an accident, with details regarding time, direction they were headed and also the number of occupants in the car.
The European Union is quite sure that this emergency call system can save many lives, plainly by getting an ambulance quicker to the spot.
So now, the 28 countries that fall under the European Union will have three years to fit this emergency call system or eCall in their vehicles.
