Diesel Price In Punjab, Haryana, HP & Delhi To Remain Uniform
The price of diesel in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh will remain uniform, under an arrangement between the four state governments.
The Punjab government hiked VAT on diesel to 13.4 percent, while the Haryana government hiked it to 16.4 percent. With surcharge and local levies, the tax in the two states will be 17.29 and 17.22 percent respectively.
The government of Himachal Pradesh followed, hiking the VAT on diesel by 16 percent. But this was on a condition that the other states take necessary steps in this direction first.
All this means that the difference in the price of diesel in all four states will be under 5 paise per litre.
A meeting in regards to this was held by Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi on Tuesday. The Excise and Taxation officials of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Himachal had agreed on the uniform pricing of diesel.
