F1: DB Schenker To Operate Actros Trucks For Mercedes F1 Team

Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team's new logistics partner, DB Schenker, took delivery of five Mercedes-Benz Actros models as new race trucks for the Formula 1 World Championship-winning team in Wörth at the end of January.

DB Schenker is using the trucks to undertake all logistics services at the European Formula 1 races, tests and promotional events up until the end of 2018. The contracts were officially signed in Brackley (GB).

The race trucks are five Mercedes-Benz Actros 1845 LS tractor units with GigaSpace cab in brilliant silver. Over the coming four years, the five trucks will be used to transport the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula 1 racing cars.

DB Schenker also acquired a further fleet of Actros 1845 LSNRL models featuring the BigSpace cab with DB Schenker branding. This part of the fleet is being used for the racing team's general transport logistics.

The vehicles feature lot of comfort and safety equipment such as auxiliary air conditioning, the "Economy Package" and also the extensive "Top Safety Package".

This safety package includes:

  • Emergency braking system Active Brake Assist 3,
  • Lane departure warning system
  • Stability Control Assist
  • Proximity Control Assist with stop-and-go function
  • Low fuel consumption and maximum vehicle economy are assured by the Predictive Powertrain Control
  • GPS data
  • Cruise control
  • Automated Mercedes PowerShift transmission
