Daimler Eyeing To Double Its R&D Team In Bangalore By 2020
Daimler is looking to increase its Research and Development (R&D) team in Bangalore by 6,000 members, which is double that of what Daimler R&D currently has, by the year 2020. The Daimler R&D facility in Bangalore is already the largest, outside Germany.
One major focus for Daimler will be to digitalise the the entire process - from designing to manufacturing. Digitisation will help Daimler understand the behaviour of startups as well. Daimler recently engaged with a few startups in berlin, through Betahaus or coworking office space. Round 200 startups participated.
When a car is designed and tested digitally, the company ends up saving a lot of time and money. The Bangalore R&D center currently has teams that design chassis and powertrain digitally.
