Cummins Prepares For Tata Motors Prima T1 Truck Racing
Indian automobile giant, Tata Motors is the only manufacturer to organise a Truck racing championship in the country. There are several companies that will be taking part in the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship. Cummins will be the engine partner for the event.
The Tata Prima Truck Racing Championship will be held on 15th of March, 2015. This event will be held at the international racing facility of Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, India. It will be the second edition of truck racing in India and will continue for many years ahead.
Ashwath Ram, Vice President, Tata Cummins Operations and Industrial Engine Business Unit of Cummins India Limited, expressed, "We are once again proud to be associated with this notable event and extend our partnership to Tata Motors. The Truck Racing Championship offers Cummins an ideal platform to showcase the endurance and reliability of Cummins' engines."
This year six teams will compete in the truck racing championship. Twelve trucks will be on track competing for top honours. For 2015 championship new trucks have been provided by Tata Motors, which are known as ‘Prima 4038.S tractor-trailer'.
These trucks are powered by a Cummins ISLe 8.9-litre engine. Performance has been improved in these trucks for more excitement. They now generate 370 bhp, with improved acceleration. Top speed has also been increased from 110 km/h to 130 km/h, so watch out for more overtaking manoeuvres.
Ravi Pisharody, Executive Director, Commercial Vehicles, Tata Motors Limited, commented, "We are glad to have Cummins on board with their high-performing engines; and would like to thank them for their continued association with the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship."
