Car Companies To Shut Down Plants For Maintenance
As 2015 comes to an end, car companies are also shutting down their factories for maintenance. This will also help carmakers correct their inventory position before the new year begins.
India's largest selling carmaker, Maruti Suzuki will keep its plants shut from December 27 to January 3, 2016. Renault-Nissan alliance will also keep its plans closed from December 28 to January 3, 2016.
Experts say that such shutdowns help the carmakers reduce current year stocks from being carried into the next year. This also helps workers take a few days off, towards the end of the year.
Usually, car companies shut down their manufacturing facilities twice a year, once during the middle of the year, and once during the end. In recent times, however, carmakers have been shutting down only once, during Diwali.
Again, not all companies have shut down, since South Korean carmaker Hyundai has decided not to shut down, to meet domestic and international demands.
