Autonomous Audi R8 e-Tron Revealed In Shanghai
Audi revealed the autonomous R8 e-tron electric car in Shanghai, during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
The Audi R8 e-tron becomes the German carmaker's third self driven car concept, after the Audi RS7 and the A7.
The car is equipped with sensors, laser scanners, video cameras and ultrasonic sensors that will make the car drive by itself, without any driver inputs. All the data gathered is processed in the car;s computer and creates a virtual image of its surroundings.
Powering this car however, is an electric motor that produces 455 bhp. It has a top speed of 155 mph and can get to 62 mph from a standstill in 3.9 seconds. The electric motor can be charged completely in less than two hours.
Such autonomous technology will be featured in the Audi A8, that is due to be launched in 2017.
