By Dennis
A report in the Economic Times has reported that the flooding caused by excessive rains in Chennai has lead to a cumulative production loss of Rs 150-180 crore for automakers based in the city.
The heavy rains, said to be the highest in a decade, have forced the factories of Ford, Renault-Nissan, Daimler India and Yamaha have remained shut for two days leading to heavy losses. Both Ford and Renault-Nissan are expected to resume production on Wednesday.
The heavy rains have also delayed shipments of Hyundai cars and will lead to an increase in the waiting period of models including the in-demand Creta. The rains could also lead to an increase in the waiting period for the Renault Kwid.
