2015 Geneva Motor Show: Audi R8 To Debut With V10 Engine
Audi, the German carmaker is all set to debut the company's flagship sports car, the Audi R8 at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
What will make it more interesting is that Audi is ditching the V8 engine and will offer the car only with a V10 power house when launched.
The 4.2-litre V8 engine produced 426 bhp and a peak torque of 430 Nm. The new cars will be offered with the 5.2-litre V10 engine that could produce up to 580 horsepower.
Sources who confirmed this fact have also hinted that the German carmaker could bring out a diesel power house for the R8 as well. A V12 TDI engine in the R8 could be a high possibility because the previous generation R8 was very close to getting it.
Possibilities are open because Audi could bring out a plug-in hybrid model of the R8 as well. Powered either by a V6 or a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, with electric motors to do the job. This however, will not happen in the near future.
It will not be a surprise if Audi make a plug-in hybrid version of the R8 because many performance cars come with this technology and it has proven to be efficient.
