2016 Toyota Fortuner Revealed With Better Styling; India Bound
Toyota has been selling its Fortuner SUV in several markets and is a popular product in developing markets. In India as well the Fortuner has been a popular product since its launch.
Ever since the SUV was introduced in India, it has undergone minor cosmetic changes and paint updates. Now for 2016 Toyota will be redesigning and repackaging it's Fortuner.
The 2016 Fortuner from Toyota will be a 7-seater and will sport three rows of comfortable seating, with decent room for carrying luggage. Both interior and exterior of the SUV has been re-done for a modern and youthful appearance.
2016 Toyota Fortuner has currently been revealed in Australia and Thailand. It is most likely to make its Indian debut at 2016 Auto Expo and will be launched subsequently in following months.
On first impressions the 2016 Toyota Fortuner looks more stylish than its predecessor. The Japanese manufacturer, however, is quick at reminding us that this good looker is a rugged and built to last SUV.
Front fascia get more chrome treatment than before. Bumper has also been redesigned with an improved air flow system. Chrome is once again used to highlight fog lamps. Headlights get more sleek and meaner looking than previous generation. Gone is the air-scoop on the hood of Fortuner, which was a common sight.
Wheel arches are sculpted with finesse and do not overly muscular. Foot board has been well integrated into the design and does not look out of its place. Most prominent change is the spectacular window and use of glass, it provides the SUV with a more premium and stylish appearance. It provides an illusion that the roof is floating as it wraps around and merges with back glass. Extensive use of chrome garnish can be seen on the side of 2016 Toyota Fortuner.
Sleek and simple is what we can say about the rear of 2016 Toyota Fortuner. Spare wheel continues to be mounted below the vehicles rear. Bumper has also been redesigned and looks smaller and gives the vehicle presence of being even higher above the ground.
On offer will be three engine options under 2016 Toyota Fortuner's hood. We are unsure as to which engine options would be made available for Indian market.
- First will be 2,755cc diesel engine producing 177 horsepower and 450 Nm torque. It will be available in 4WD & 2WD option with auto transmission.
- Second will be 2,393cc diesel engine producing 150 horsepower and 400 Nm torque. It will be available as 2WD option with auto transmission.
- Third will be 2,694cc petrol engine producing 166 horsepower and 245 Nm torque. It will be available as 2WD option with auto transmission.

Black with aluminium accent provide interior with a sporty appeal. Steering wheel is simple and has audio control over it. Somehow it looks like Toyota has added too many things, which could distract the driver.
