2016 BMW M2 Coupe – All The Details You Need To Know
BMW has a surprise up its sleeves for enthusiasts, in the form of the 2016 BMW M2 Coupe, that is to go on sale very soon. The car will also be a replacement for the 1M Coupe.
So what has BMW planned or has in store? Here is a detailed look:
To start off, ‘M' is the Motorsport division for the German carmaker. And the 2015 BMW M2 Coupe will be powered by a 3.0-litre, twin-turbo, straight six-cylinder engine, which is capable of pumping 365 horsepower and 465 Nm of peak torque. There is also an over boost function that takes torque output to 500 Nm.
This engine comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission as standard, which helps the car accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The BMW M2 Coupe will also feature an optional seven-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT), which helps the car to achieve 0 to 100km/h a bit faster.
The DCT will feature different driving modes such as Comfort, Sport and Sport+ driving modes, and launch control. The M2 Coupe, with a manual or auto gearbox mode, will reach an electronically restricted top speed of 250 km/h.
On the handling front, the M2 Coupe gets improvements made to the chassis like a lot of aluminium components for the suspension, a re-tuned electrically power-assisted steering system, and an M differential as well.
The fenders have been beefed up to house 19-inch lightweight wheels along with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres. The bumpers are reworked and the rear features four exhaust outlets.
The interior gets blue contrast stitching on the leather and features Alcantara and carbon fibre touches.
In the UK, the 2016 BMW M2 Coupe's pricing is expected to start at 44,000 GBP.
