2015 Raid De Himalaya: Over 150 To Participate This Year!
One of the toughest forms of motorsports and the toughest in India, Raid De Himalaya is to take place this month, from the ninth of October. It will be a six-day event, covering 2000 km of one of the most treacherous routes in the world.
The 2015 Raid De Himalaya will be flagged off from Shimla, Himachal Pradesh and take the participants through Manali, Dalhousie, Rangdum and finish in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir.
This year, the rally will expect to see over 150 participants over different categories to battle each other to be named as the king of the mountains.
The rally will be split into two main categories—Adventure and X-treme. The race will take participants to altitudes where basic necessities to live, like Oxygen, will be thin. It will also expose participants to cold weather, harsh terrain, snow, mud, gravel, rain and water crossings, that make the race difficult and dangerous.
The race will not just test competitors, but also the vehicles since they take up all the beating. They will be pushed to extreme limits during the race.
This year, participants include women as well, and a few all-women team.
Raid De Himalaya is one of the two events that is listed under the Federation Internationale Automobile (FIA) and Federation Internationale Motocyclisme (FIM), the governing bodies for motorsports globally.
