2015 Formula One Austrian GP Results & Championship Standing
On 21st June, 2015 Formula One drivers competed at the Austrian GP. Lewis Hamilton sat on pole alongside Nico Rosberg, in third position was Sebastian Vettel beside Felipe Massa.
Hamilton was slow to start off the line and ended up giving the lead to Rosberg in the first corner. An incident between Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen in the opening lap resulted in deployment of the safety car.
McLaren Honda are still struggling and there seems to be no light at the end of this tunnel. Jenson Button was forced to retire with mechanical issues after installing a brand new engine.
The race took its usual form with Mercedes duo heading the field by a huge margin. Sebastian Vettel was third and Felipe Massa did not look to threaten for third place.
Lewis Hamilton received a five second penalty for crossing the pit stop line. Vettel's bad luck continued as a nut was stuck while tyre changing and cost him the podium.
Austrian GP ended with Rosberg cutting down Hamilton's lead and Massa completing the podium. Both Force India drivers finished with points - Huldenberg secured sixth, while Perez was ninth.
Rosberg is now 10 points away from Lewis Hamilton, who has secured 169 points. In third place remains Vettel with 120 points and Raikkonen is fourth in championship with 72 points.
