Winter Tyres With Retractable Studs By Nokian

Driving on ice is a tricky situation however, in snowing countries its a necessity. Usually they have separate tyres for winter as well as for summer.

Usually people tie chains to their wheels for additional traction. Some new tyres even offer metal studs attached to them.

Nokian has constructed a tyre which features retractable metal studs.

The tyre manufacturer based from Finland offers a single tyre that can be used in different climatic conditions. It can be used in snow and ice covered roads as well as smooth roads without ice.

This is due to the retractable metal studs on it. The studs offer grip while driving on ice covered roads. When there is no ice, with the push of a button, studs retract and you can enjoy smooth roads.

This new tyre construction could increase longevity, as they are not restricted only to ice roads. Its an excellent tyre choice for countries where, tyres with studs are banned.

These tyres won't be available as of now though. Since these are prototypes and are far away from production stage.

Matti Morri explains that these tyres will eventually be available to consumers however, the major concern is cost of these tyres.
