Impending End To Energy Drink Company Sponsorship In MotoGP?
Motorsports is an expensive business, there's no doubt about that. Nowadays, even a victory does not provide enough funds to cover race expenses, and as a result sponsorship has always been of utmost importance for teams to participate in motor racing.
In the past, tobacco companies used to play a big part in motorsports sponsorship, like Michael Schumacher's Marlboro Ferrari in F1, but were banned a while ago. Energy drink companies like Red Bull and Monster Energy Drinks then took over, and are responsible for several current motorsports sponsorships including Formula One teams and several riders.

However, an editorial published by Asphalt and Rubber brought to light by Autoblog warns teams not to get too comfortable with the current scenario of energy drink company sponsorship because these beverages with a high caffeine content are considered harmful by several EU countries, up to the extent of banning them for consumers below the age of 18.
It seems every second motorsport event has energy drink sponsorship so motorsport fans will hope that this does not affect the now widely promoted and followed motorsport undertakings. Formula One survived the exit of tobacco companies, but will MotoGP and other motorsports undertakings survive energy drink companies leaving motorsport?
