Volkswagen Dealers Stop Accepting Booking For Polo Base Trim

Volkswagen is expected to build tough and durable cars. Their international models have passed each and every stringent safety standards.

The recent Global NCAP tests showed how safe a car without the inclusion of airbags can be. The German automobile giant has since announced airbags as a standard feature in all their cars.

Volkswagen will be introducing airbags in the Polo too, which earlier was available without the safety feature. The German car manufacturer has asked their dealers to stop accepting booking for the base model Polo, that doesn't have air bags.

Global NCAP organised a crash test to show people the damage that can be caused in the event a car doesn't have airbags. They usually don't test vehicles without airbags, as cars mostly fail.

They had carried out crash tests with cars that are familiar with Indian customers. Maruti Alto 800, Tata Nano, Ford Figo and Hyundai i10; however, none of these could score a single point in the crash test.

Volkswagen offered airbags in its cars, they had an option if you would not want them. Now they will come standard with every of their cars, starting with Polo.

In the crash test Volkswagen Polo scored an impressive 4stars out of 5stars. This model had airbags in the front. The model without airbags fared well in NCAP crash test; however, due to no airbags it wasn't awarded any stars.

During the recently concluded Geneva Motor Show Volkswagen had showcased their facelifted version of the Polo. It is expected to make its presence felt in Indian market by the end of 2014.

The bookings have closed for the base model Polo; however, bookings are set to open as soon as the variant will be made available with airbags in the front.
