Vauxhall Astra VXR Extreme At Geneva Motor Show

Vauxhall will showcase an Astra VXR Extreme at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. It is based on the previous years Astra Cup race car. However, the Extreme is an even lighter and powerful version of the regular Astra VXR.

Vauxhall will make the Extreme available to general public, depending on the reaction it receives. It will mainly be used on the race track, where it is breed to shine.

The Extreme has lost 100kgs by use of carbon fibre components. It also has a new all aluminium 2.0 litre petrol engine in an inline four configuration. This is Vauxhall's most powerful engine built till date.

Vauxhall Astra VXR Extreme Front

The front of the Extreme has a wide body kit. The headlamps house projector lights along with LED daytime running lights. The hood features carbon fibre to help reduce weight.

The twin barrel dual exhausts add a sporty look however, will make it more audible too. The rear diffuser and spoiler are for improving aerodynamics and are made of carbon fibre.

Vauxhall Astra VXR Extreme Side

To halt the car Brembo has developed a six-piston braking system, matched with a 370mm disc. For better grip 19" tyres with 245/35 spec tyres are developed specially for the Extreme. Damping of the car can be adjusted like a true race car.

The Astra Extreme gets Recaro bucket seats, with six point safety belts by Schroth. The seats will be reinforced by carbon fibre. The rear seats are removed and roll cage is placed in for safety. Steering wheel is wrapped suede material and highlighted with yellow stitching.

Vauxhall sells the Astra VXR only in UK mainly and parts of Europe. The Extreme will be made available to customers based on the feedback from the showcased vehicle at Geneva Motor Show.
