It's been over a month since the standoff between Toyota Kirloskar Motors and its workers came to an end and normalcy in production has slowly started to come about.

While the issue concerning wages has not been completely resolved, the verdict given by the Industrial Disputes Tribunal would have to be accepted by both parties.

"We have raised our wage hike offer to Rs 3,100 per month as suggested by the government of Karnataka. If the workers are ready to accept our offer, we are ready to end the dispute amicably," Shekar Viswanathan, company Vice Chairman & Director, told BS.

Production at Toyota Kirloskar's Bidadi facilities near Bangalore had been badly affected during the month's of March and April, with monthly numbers having had dropped to 300 to 350 units a day.

Since then, production has been ramped back up to 700 units a day, with its 4,200 workers working in full swing.

Waiting periods for all Toyota models had gone up to two months on an average while workers had slowed down production with continuous strikes. This has now been brought down to 3 weeks.
