Toyota FT-1 Revealed At Detroit Motor Show
Toyota FT-1, a concept that is reminiscent to the company's past sports cars. Its design owes to the traditional front-engine and rear wheel drive setup. The car has an F1 like street stance, which helps in weight distribution and the A-pillars have been pushed back for cornering visibility.
Toyota explains, their FT-1 is a work done by Toyota's Calty design studio in California. That aim to give their products more energy and passion. Their goal is to create cars that can connect with customers deliver a satisfying ownership experience.
F1 styling cues are present in frontal intakes, protruding nose and front wing. The car sports 21-inch wheels with in 245/35 rubber around it, twin tailpipes and a rear wing that is retractable.
The long bonnet has a transparent section to showcase the engine bay. The windscreen and side screen are clear cues picked from the 2000GT, which was produced in the 1960s.

The driver gets an F1-inspired steering wheel with gear indicator and an engine start button. The car will get paddle shifter and just above it is a colour head-up display and a delta-shaped display. Swoopy centre console, aluminium pedals and bucket seats will also be a feature of the car.
Toyota would love a combustion engine instead of a hybrid powertrain in the FT-1. The car will be available to Gran Turismo game players, as part of their Vision Series.
