Skoda Starts Year With Strong Growth In January, 2014
Skoda Auto, the VW owned Czech automaker had a strong start to the year with a sales growth of 16.5 percent in the month of January. The automaker sold 80,900 vehicles during this month globally. In comparison, during the corresponding month last year the company sold 69,500 units.
Strong growth were witnessed in Europe as well as China, with Skoda registering record deliveries in the latter. Sales in Europe witnessed double digit growth with 48,200 units sold.

Meanwhile, in China, which is Skoda's strongest individual market, deliveries rose by by 27.3 percent to 27,500 units. In other words, Skoda sold more cars in China than ever before in a single month.
As has always been, the ŠKODA Octavia was the best performer with a growth of 40.2 percent in Western Europe and an over growth of 14.5 percent with 34,400 unit sales. However, the car that saw the best growth was the Rapid, whose sales increased by 286.7 percent. Model wise unit sales breakdown is as follows:

ŠKODA Fabia (12,900; -18.6%)
ŠKODA Superb (7,400; -13.6%)
ŠKODA Yeti (5,400; -2.3%)
ŠKODA Roomster (2,300; +19.4%)
ŠKODA Rapid (15,800; +286.7%)
ŠKODA Citigo (sold only in Europe: 2,800; -21.3%)

"With 16.5% growth and the best January ever, we have truly confirmed the outstanding performance of the second half of 2013. Our model campaign is paying off in the markets.
