Skoda Laura Discontinued From India Lineup

Skoda Laura has at last been taken out the automaker's India website, signalling the retirement of the Laura brand from its lineup. The Laura was in fact the the Octavia Mk2, and it was sold with the Octavia name in international markets.

In India, however, the Laura, which was launched in 2005, was initially sold alongside the previous generation Octavia Mk1. The Laura was given a facelift in 2009 and it continued to sell alongside the all new Octavia, that was launched last year, until recently.

Skoda Laura came with two engine options, a 1.8 liter turbocharged petrol and a 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel. The petrol engine could be got with either a 7 speed DSG automatic transmission or a 6 speed manual. The engine produced 160 bhp and 250 Nm of torque.

The diesel engine on the other hand, was offered in two variants - a 110 bhp/250 Nm torque unit coupled to a 5 speed manual transmission and a 140 bhp/320 Nm torque unit that came with a 6 speed DSG automatic gearbox.
