Sebastian Vettel Joins Ferrari On 3-Year Deal As Alonso Moves On
It has been an awesome five years for Fernando Alonso with Scuderia Ferrari. The Spanish driver has amassed 1186 points with 44 podiums and 11 wins to his name with the Prancing Horse. He made his move from an estranged relation with McLaren Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton.
The Italian manufacturer has confirmed Alonso will be replaced by quadruple Formula One World Champion Sebastian Vettel. The German ace has signed a three year contract with Scuderia Ferrari. He will share the paddock with current Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen.
Double Formula One World Champion Alonso has not yet signed with another team. He has showed his intent to compete in Formula One however. When asked about the possibilities, the Spaniard deceivingly answered he would not drive a vehicle powered by a Mercedes engine.
The only option in front of him is to join McLaren that will be powered by a Honda engine for 2015 season. The United Kingdom based manufacturer has not announced its driver line-up for 2015 season. They have promised to make an announcement post 1st of December, 2014.
Sebastian Vettel has openly admitted that his idol has been Michael Schumacher over the past years. Since then it has always been his dream to one day be in the cockpit of Scuderia Ferrari. The German ace explains its a great honour to drive for Ferrari and retain honour to the team.
It will be interesting to see how much Vettel can help Ferrari in developing the 2015 Formula One car. We wonder if the German driver can recreate the magic he created in his Red Bull Renault. He will be replaced by Daniil Kvyat, who will partner alongside Daniel Ricciardo.
