By Ajinkya

It was the 4th of May, 1904 that the founders of Rolls-Royce Charles Rolls and Henry Royce met for the very first time. At the very moment not even them could predict that their company would be the producers of the most luxurious cars in the world.

The luxury car manufacturer will be celebrating their 110th anniversary. Rolls Royce first car was called the Silver Ghost, it only ran for 24,000 kilometres. The British marque has planned extravagant celebrations, which will take place at Goodwood Motor Circuit, West Sussex and also at the Midland Hotel, Manchester.

Charles Rolls was an auto enthusiast, who also owned a car sales and service station. While Henry Royce owned an engineering unit in Manchester, he also had his own car called the Royce. To further his business they both were asked to meet, which included a ride in the Royce car and a brief meeting at the Midland Hotel in Manchester.

Torsten Muller-Otvos, Chief Executive, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, explains "The company created by Charles Rolls and Henry Royce had a simple philosophy - the pursuit of excellence - and one that the whole team at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars strives for every day."

He also said,"I have no doubt that the company's forefathers would be proud to see the exceptional cars made at the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood, still bearing the linked RR letters."

In the meeting that decided fate of today's Rolls-Royce company, both Henry and Charles had decided that they would rename the company. It was also decided that the front grille will have a new logo, which will have both their surnames Rolls-Royce.
