Porsche Entry-Level Roadster Below Boxster 2016 Launch Rumoured
If rumours coming from Germany are to be believed, Porsche is developing a new entry level sports car, with a launch date set for 2016.
The new car would be a roadster like the current entry level model, the Boxster and will be based on it as well. However, it would carry the 718 moniker instead, hinting that it will be an entirely different car, rather than just a base variant of the Boxster.
The new car will also be lighter than the 1300 kg Boxster, according to rumours.

While details are extremely limited at this time, reports suggest the Porsche 718 would be powered by a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine producing 286 horsepower. Reports also say that a 360 horsepower, 2.5-liter engine could be included in the lineup.
Lastly, it is believed the new entry level Porsche roadster would cost approximately €39,000 (INR 31.42 lakh), making it about €10,000 (INR 8 lakh) cheaper than the present Boxster.
The entry level Porsche Boxster is powered by a 2.7-litre, 6-cylinder engine producing 265 horsepower at 6700 rpm and 280 Nm of torque. Coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission, the Boxster can reach 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and can reach a top speed of 264 km/h.
