Peugeot Quartz Concept Revealed As Future SUV
French automobile manufacturer Peugeot has been developing their future SUV codenamed the Quartz. It is still in the concept phase and will be officially showcased at the upcoming 2014 Paris Motor Show. They have revealed to us the pictures of their concept SUV.
The design for Quartz has been taken from saloon type vehicle and has been incorporated into a SUV frame. It gets radical styling and has been designed keeping in mind the future needs of a buyer. Peugeot have outdone themselves with their concept Quartz.
Maxime Picat, Peugeot Brand Chief Executive Officer, explained, "With the Exalt and Quartz Concepts, the brand is showcasing its vision of the high-end automotive market. Peugeot is committed to developing exclusive concepts for its customers through outstanding design, innovative materials and unparalleled sensations."
The French automobile manufacturer will provide its concept vehicle with 1.6-litre THP 270 engine developed by Peugeot Sport. The four-cylinder mill will produce 170 horsepower, along with park torque of 330 Nm.
They will provide their concept Quartz with an electric motor that will power the front wheels. The direct drive 85kW electric motor will be capable of generating power while decelerating. The rear also gets a 85kW electric motor to boost propulsion as well as battery charging.
The Quartz gets scissor doors and will be the first on a SUV, Peugeot has based its concept on their 308 model, however, they have taken it a step further. They have formed the centre console out of Basalt, which is strong and light. It also features the very first digitally woven textile, made out of plastic bottles and polyester fibre.
