No Steering Wheels On Future Cars?
The phrase "Look Ma, no hands!" has literally given ideas about how future vehicles are going to be. The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), has recently conducted a survey revealing that the cars of the future will lose a few critical elements like the steering wheel, brake pedal, rear view mirrors and even horns on mass produced vehicles. Future meaning by 2035.
More than 200 researchers, university students and government agencies in the field of autonomous vehicles participated in this survey. When they were asked to give six drawbacks as to why driverless cars can't be made, legal liability, policy makers, and consumer acceptance were ranked the topmost.
When the researchers asked what are the elements in a mass produced vehicles that will be removed, rear view mirrors, emergency brakes and horns were the first on the list. All this will be taken off by 2030 and in 2035, pedals and the steering will be gone too.

Following the driverless car development technology, about 75% of the people who attended the survey believed that all 50 states in the US will pass legislations to adapt this.
Many automobile manufacturers have started implementing this technology on a few models they export already like Hyundai and Nissan. The Smart Rear View Mirror for example with Nissan, uses a camera at the rear and the video input output is displayed on a LCD monitor where the traditional mirror is found. The wide angle camera provides a broader view than a mirror.
In the realistic world, Google has already started testing a car without a steering wheel and pedals with plans of it being mass produced very soon. Apart from Google, Mercedes, Volvo and Nissan are developing autonomous cars too.
