Could Nissan Launch Terrano AWD In India?
Nissan has come to India with a positive attitude, they have been launching products on a regular basis. The Japanese automobile giant is also updating its product lineup, to keep its customers satisfied. They have also launched their Datsun brand in India to offer affordable solutions.
The Japanese manufacturer currently offers Micra Active, Micra, Sunny, Evalia, Terrano and Teana models in India. They also offer their GO hatchback under the Datsun badge, which is an affordable option.
Nissan currently shares its product lineup with Renault. They have been re-badging products for a while now in India. Both of them offer hatchbacks, sedans and compact SUVs with minor alterations.
Renault India has recently launched its Duster AWD variant. So it might occur that Nissan too offers an AWD system in their Terrano compact SUV, with drive modes that can be switched on the go.
Nissan might provide its AWD Terrano with Auto, 2WD and AWD drive modes. It could be an i-DriveTech system that can switch between modes, while driving.
The AWD system may only be offered only in the top end Terrano variant. It will sport the same 1.5-litre K9K diesel mill, which will be capable of producing 109 bhp of maximum power. The engine will also produce a decent 248 Nm of peak torque and will be paired to a 6-speed transmission.
Nissan is also expected to offer its AWD Terrano with ASR, ASP, Electronic Torque Control and Hill Start Assist. These are features that are much needed on an all wheel drive option. The Japanese manufacturer could also add more features to make it a more lucrative buying option.
Currently its only competitor is Renault's Duster AWD. The Ford EcoSport offers an AWD option in international markets and is expected to bring it to India soon. Nissan India has not confirmed any dates as of now.
