Nico Rosberg Takes The Lead In Championship Post Hockenheim
Nico Rosberg entered the 2014 German GP in pole position, however, his team mate and championship rival Lewis Hamilton had a crash in qualifying. The British driver for Mercedes AMG Petronas was awarded a five place grid penalty and was pushed to 20th position.
This is the first time a German driver has stood on the top spot at the Hockenheim circuit since 2006, when Michael Schumacher won in his Ferrari. Sebastian Vettel has won previously in Germany, however, all the wins were at the Nurburgring.

Lewis Hamilton achieved the impossible by climbing to third place from 20th on grid. He almost caught up with second position and could have claimed the position, if there were two more laps. With this the British driver has kept his championship hopes alive and can still catch up.

It was another great outing for Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas in his Williams. They secured second position and their 300th podium finish and importantly are third in the Constructors Championship ahead of Ferrari.

The race was made interesting in the back by Scuderia Ferrari's Fernando Alonso and Red Bull Racing's Sebastian Vettel. The German driver came on top again to secure fourth place. While, his Australian team mate Daniel Ricciardo had to fight with the Spanish Ferrari driver and lost out in fifth place.

Force India once again had both their cars secure points. Sergio Perez scored a single point with his tenth place finish, while team mate Nico Hulkenberg finished the race in seventh place. They kept Kimi Raikkonen out of point scoring and the 'Iceman' could only manage eleventh place.
