Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Unveiled At 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show

Mercedes-Maybach had earlier this week announced that it would be launching an all new S-Class. They have globally unveiled the stretched out S-Class at Los Angeles Auto Show any Guangzhou Auto Show. The unveil was held in China and United States almost simultaneously.

The German manufacturer claims this Maybach S-Class will be propelled by a V8 4.6-litre engine. The S500 will produce 448.59 horsepower, along with 700 Nm of peak torque. There is a second engine option on offer by Mercedes-Maybach.

Mercedes-Maybach will provide their S600 with a 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission. The S500 will sport the first 9-speed auto for a luxury sedan, in the form of 9G-TRONIC automatic gearbox. Mercedes-Maybach has restricted its S-Class to a top speed of 250 km/h. The vehicle can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in a matter of five seconds flat.

The second engine option will be in their S600 model. It will be powered by a V12 6.0-litre engine. The engineers have been able to extract 533.53 horsepower, along with 830 Nm of peak torque. Mercedes-Maybach claim that this is the World's Quietest Production Saloon Car ever built.

Ola Kallenius, member of the Divisional Board of Mercedes-Benz Cars responsible for sales, expressed, "The history of prestige vehicles made by Daimler extends back to the earliest days of the motor car. We have now commenced a new chapter with the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class."

Mercedes-Maybach has increased the wheelbase of the S-Class by 20 mm. The limousine styled vehicle will be packed with creature comforts. It will also offer individual seats for rear seat occupants as standard equipment.

The manufacturer has not revealed pricing of their Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. Price will be revealed closer to launch in February of 2015. A 4MATIC AWD S-Class will also be introduced at a later date.
