Mercedes-Benz R&D Center India Gets New CEO In Manu Saale

Daimler has appointed Manu Saale as the new Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Research & Development India (MBRDI), the automaker's largest R&D facility outside Germany, located in Bangalore.

At a press briefing held yesterday at MBRDI Prof. Dr. Thomas Weber, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler, responsible for Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development, introduced Manu Saale who has now taken over responsibility from Dr. Jens Cattarius.

Meanwhile Dr. Jens Cattarius, who was heading the India R&D facility for the past three years, has been assigned new responsibilities within Mercedes-Benz R&D in Stuttgart/Germany.

Manu Saale, joined Daimler in 2011 and worked at MBRDI as Head of department for Electrical & Electronics Engineering. Since July 2013, he has received extensive insights and training within various R&D departments in Stuttgart to get prepared to head Mercedes-Benz's research facility here.

Prof. Thomas Weber pointed out: "With Manu Saale, being multilingual and Indian-born, we appointedan international expert and global player at the head of MBRDI. We are confident that the transferring of important specific know-how and expertise within Daimler R&D will further solidify MBRDI's position as a strong player of Daimler's global RD-network. We are committed to India and underline our confidence to this important growth market for Daimler. I am wishing both Dr. Jens Cattarius and Manu Saale all the best for their new assignments and thank both for their strong contributions and commitment to our company."
