McLaren P1 Track High Performance Version Under Consideration

Even as car enthusiasts are discussing the upcoming LaFerrari FXX, the upcoming hardcore, track only version of the Ferrari hypercar, rumours about an even more powerful McLaren P1 has emerged.

According to Autocar UK, McLaren, upon receiving enquiries about an even more powerful version of P1, has written to the 375 owners of the car and prospective owners to gauge their interest.

The ‘high performance' version of the ‘regular' Mclaren P1 is reportedly already in early stages of development.

The new car is said to be known internally as ‘McLaren P1 Track' and if and when it becomes a reality, only a handful will be made.

Expect the McLaren P1 Track to be lighter, with a more extreme aero design and permanently locked in its lowest, non-road legal, suspension setting. The car could also produce more power and torque figures.

Also, if this happens, it will be the first time Ferrari's FXX experimental cars will have a direct rival.
