McLaren P1 - Detailed Technical Walkaround By Program Director
McLaren P1 is an absolutely stupendous work of engineering that's one among the most advanced production cars on the planet. The car was built with only one thing in mind and that was to make it the best driver's car in the world.
That's been made possible by how well the car is designed. The car looks beautiful of course, but behind that beauty is reason and purpose. In fact, every single body panel, component and materials used has a function role to play, all of which combine to make the McLaren P1 what it is.
In their recent video EVO magazine's Richard Meaden speaks with McLaren P1 program director Paul Mackenzie who offers a rare, in-depth walkaround of the car, telling us why the car has been made so and what purpose each and every single curve and grove in the car's body serves and how they all work towards making the car more slippery and keeping it cool.
In fact, during development of the P1 the designers were not given a free hand, but they had to sit with aero engineers to bring about the car's final form.
