McLaren 650S Officially Revealed - Images & Details
Following yesterday's leaked images McLaren has officially revealed the 650S ahead of the Geneva Motor Show. McLaren 650S is supposed to sit as a model between the P1 and the MP4-12C, but its hard to consider it as anything other than the next-gen MP4-12C.

In a nutshell, McLaren 650S is a 12C that now gets the new family face that's seen on the P1 (including the LED headlight design), has the same engine as the 12C that's been modified to produce more power and has updated hardware to improve overall performance.
In fact, if demand for the 12C decreases due to the 650S, the latter could well replace the former as the next-gen 12C.
The visual changes are not just aesthetic, but actually improve the car's aerodynamics, says McLaren. Despite the drag co-efficient remaining unchanged, downforce has increased by 24 percent while moving at 241 km/h.
Besides the P1 style front bumper and grille design other exterior changes include larger side air intakes, the improved ‘active aero' or rear wing and new alloy wheels shod in Pirelli P Zero Corsa performance tyres.
The engine found in the 650S is a modified version of the 12C's 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 that generates 641 HP and 678 Nm of torque. That's a gain of 25 HP and 78 Nm over the 12C's figures. The engine is paired with a recalibrated seven-speed dual clutch transmission that responds faster.
There are several other mechanical changes, but to wrap it up, everything from the suspensions to brakes to the transmission have been replaced with better units or modified in the 650S.
The result is a car that'll be faster than the 12C around corners, will be able to take off from 0 to reach 100 km/h in 3.0 seconds and 201 km/h in 8.4 seconds, which is half a second faster than the 12C.
On the inside, the only difference over the 12C is the Alcantara which is now found as standard on the dashboard and seats. There also IRIS satellite navigation with Bluetooth telephony, DAB digital radio (SIRIUS satellite radio in North America), wireless tethering, audio streaming and voice control as standard.
McLaren's asking price for the facelifted 12C is £195,000 for the Coupe and £215,000 for the Convertible version, which is roughly £20,000 more than what one would pay for the 12C in the UK.
McLaren 650S will make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show that starts on March 3rd.
