McLaren 650S Track Version Coming Soon

By Ajinkya

McLaren recently revealed their new supercar 650S, at the recently concluded Geneva Motor Show 2014. The 650S is the successor to McLaren's P1, which was launched a year ago.

McLaren has reported that they have gained an exceptional amount of booking for their 650S supercar. In order to deliver these cars the manufacturing plant has temporarily put a stop to the 12C production.

McLaren has two versions of their 650S a Coupe and Spider model. Both of which were revealed at the recent motor show at Geneva.

The good news is that McLaren is thinking to add another variant to the 650S lineup. The V8 engine supercar is now set to get a more sporty and track focussed version 650S.

McLaren chief development driver Chris Goodwin explains that this is just a beginning for the 650S and there is more that can be done. It is ideal to have a track version as most McLaren owners use their cars for track days.

McLaren hasn't confirmed how much they would price the Track version 650S; however, expect the car to be priced considerably higher than the coupe version 650S.

The 650S is McLaren's power packed supercar and is a bit off the P1. McLaren has planted a 3.8 litre V8 engine that generates 640 hp along with 500 pound feet of torque. This is the same engine seen in the P1; however, it has been de-tuned. It achieves 0 to 60 mph in 3 seconds flat and has a top speed of 204 mph.

The McLaren 650S will face competition from Lamborghini's Gallardo and Ferrari's 458. It will be a great supercar and would really do great with a track version.
