Maruti Swift Dzire Outsells Alto
The Maruti Swift Dzire has outsold the Maruti Alto in July. The sales of Alto, compared from last June, has almost dropped 50 percent.
The Dzire, which has topped the sales list for the first time in may, sold 18,634 units compared to the Alto selling 16,997 units.
In this years list, Maruti manages to hold the top 4 positions, the Swift Dzire, followed by the Alto, Swift and the Wagon R. The Maruti Celerio stands at the number 8 position in this years top 10 list.

Apart from this, the sales figures in July show that the Japanese car maker Honda has taken the fifth spot, selling 7,705 units units of the City. The Korean car maker Hyundai sold 2,853 units of the Verna and the German car maker Volkswagen sold just 529 units of the Vento, both being competitors for the Honda City.
Hyundai does make an appearance at the number 6, 7 and the 9th position with the Grand i10, Xcent and the Eon, selling 7,023, 6,652 and 6,035 units respectively.
Honda comes at the number 10th spot again with the Amaze, that has actually dropped three positions, selling 4,507 units.
Gone are the days when people buy small cars to start with and gradually move up. People are buying big cars because of the choice that is available for lower prices says Abdul Majeed, Partner at the Automotive Practices, PwC.
Tata Indica, which was at the ninth spot last year, did not stand a chance this year at all in the top 10 list and so was the Korean car manufacturers Hyundai i20 and the Verna.
