Within a month of its launch the bookings have skyrocketed and are said to be in the region of 1000 units per month. While most of the time being a Maruti Suzuki alone is enough to ensure the popularity of a model, in this case there's another factor that's driving buyers en mass to Maruti dealerships.

That factor or rather feature is the Automatic Manual Transmission, which Maruti claims, will ensure the automatic variant will deliver the same mileage as the manual. And that's 23.1 kmpl according to ARAI. And what's more, the Celerio AMT cost just about Rs 40,000 more than the manual variant, making it the least expensive automatic car in the country at present.
Last, but not the least, owing to excise duty cut Maruti has reduced the price of the Celerio, along with its other models.

The base variant, Celerio LXi, previously priced at INR 3.90 lakhs now costs INR 3.76 lakhs. Prices of AMT variants meanwhile have dropped from INR 4.29 lakhs and INR 4.59 lakhs to INR 4.14 lakhs and INR 4.43 lakhs, for the LXi & VXi variants respectively.
Maruti Celerio is powered by a three-cylinder, 1.0-liter K-Series engine, rated at 68 PS power at 6,000 rpm and 90 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm.
