Maruti Suzuki Celerio Booking; Going Wild

By Ajinkya

Maruti recently launched the Celerio and the car is already registering 1,000 bookings on average per day. The Car was launched at the recently concluded Auto Expo. It will feature Automatic transmission a first in its class.

Officials believe the Celerio will be successful in India due to superior fuel economy in its class. Ownership of the vehicle is expected to be low.

It will return a healthy 23.1 kmpl fuel economy, making the Celerio best in class. The AMT will be sold at RS. 4.29 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi. It is priced just Rs. 40,000 more than the manual option.

The Japanese car manufacturer currently offers Swift, Ritz and Estilo in the compact car segment. In January of this year, they together sold 24,473 vehicles.

Celerio could manage to attain 25,000+ units every month, which will help grow Maruti in terms of sales. In this period of slowdown in the auto industry, this will provide a great boost.

In the beginning of this week, the Interim Budget was released and a cut in excise duty of 12% was handed to bump up sales figures.

RC Bhargava, company chairman, explains that conditions today are not like before. In recent times, fuel costs have skyrocketed however, salaries of individuals have not gone up in similar fashion.

So far though Celerio bookings are going strong and don't seem to cease, which is a good sign for Maruti Suzuki.
