The race was later finished behind the safety car was won by Neel Jani, driving a Porsche.
The 38 year old Australian had to be taken away from the circuit on a stretcher, not before he gave a thumbs up to the crowd.
A statement from the organisers said, "Cressoni was checked by the medical staff at the side of the track and cleared, while Mark Webber, who was awake and alert, was taken to the circuit medical centre for further examination."
Mark although ok, had to be taken to the hospital for a few checks, although the cause of the accident is under investigation.
Matteo Cressoni, the second driver who was involved with the accident was also taken to the hospital on precautionary reason and spent the night there.
