Magneti Marelli is a popular automotive brand, when it comes to components. They have recently announced the inauguration of their new automotive exhaust system facility. The new factory is coming up in Independence Township, Mich., near Clarkston.
The Magneti Marelli family was founded in 1919 and is an Italian based outfit. They are among the leading manufacturers of electronics and several other automobile related equipment. The Italian manufacturer has 85 production units along with 12 R&D facilities across 19 countries.
The new facility strengthens Magneti Marelli's presence in North America. They currently manufacturer automotive lighting, powertrain, electronic systems, suspension systems both as aftermarket and motorsport parts.
Stephane Vedie, Magneti Marelli Holding USA President and CEO, explained, "The inauguration of the Independence Township plant is a significant milestone for Magneti Marelli."
He further added, "With the addition of the exhaust plant, each of the company's business lines is now represented in North America, providing and expanding footprint to serve our customers here and around the world."
The new facility will first cater to Fiat Chrysler's project needs. Magneti Marelli has in excess of 1,00,000 sq.ft of workspace they have another plant in the vicinity. They will be employing 75 individuals at their new facility.
The Italian company will produce hot end exhaust manifold integrated with catalytic converter. Their goal is to produce roughly 3,00,000 units every year at their new plant. Everything will be made on site including the canister and the materials within it. Even robotic welding procedures will be carried out at this facility to finalise the product.
