Land Rover Landy Planned For Launch
If a recent rumor is to be believed Land Rover could bring out a new model in the future that will be called Landy. This, rather, shall we put it as ‘extremely, unsophisticated/cheesy' name has reportedly been applied for trademark by Land Rover for use on an upcoming "Urban SUV"
According to the AutocarUK, Land Rover has applied for the name ‘Landy' to be registered to cover everything from vehicles to related accessories and other branded articles.
It is well known that Land Rover has long wanted to bring out a smaller version of the Evoque luxury SUV. The ‘Landy' urban SUV, based on the Evoque platform and built based on the DC100 concept could be turned into the required small SUV. Such an SUV could also be sold as an entry level luxury SUV priced lower than the Evoque in emerging markets.
While Land Rover has long dreamed about such a model no formal proposal has reportedly been put forth. However, the arrival of similar compact luxury SUVs from rival manufacturers, such as the recent Audi crossover, could encourage the Tata Motors owned British automaker to materialise its dormant ideas.
